2014 Catalina Beach Club Celebrates it's 70th Anniversary
In 1944 the Carasso and Sevy families purchased the Catalina Beach Club and it remains under their ownership today.
For seventy years later, The Catalina Beach Club looks pretty much the same with a Art Deco style of the stucco building, cabanas, promenades and balconies. Click on the photos in the upper right corner - "Pictures of the Past" show Catalina Beach Club in the 40's, 50's, and 60's.
Families have been members of the beach club for generations. The beach club has appealed to all ages with sports, live entertainment, activities and plenty of rest and relaxation with lots of sun, sand, and water.
Exciting Photo & Movie Shoots
Catalina Beach Club has been featured in countless magazine shoots, including Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, Glamour, Allure, Italian Vogue, and Vogue, to name just a few. The photographing of Victoria’s Secret models for Vogue magazine, by world class photographer, Peter Lindbergh, was a day to be remembered. Catalina Beach Club has served as a backdrop for music videos (Beyonce shot the cover of one of her album releases here), television commercials, and feature films, including Goodfellas with Robert DeNiro and Far From Heaven with Dennis Quaid and Julianne Moore.
Much to the excitement of our members, the television sitcom, Royal Pains, chose Catalina as a location site for several of its episodes. Watching the show being filmed was a learning experience enjoyed by adults and children alike, and seeing Catalina Beach Club in so many TV episodes was thrilling.
